TREATING mPaCa PATIENTS: FROM SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO REAL CLINICAL PRACTICE

📅 Session 1:26 January 2021 12:00 PM CET 📅 Session 2: 28 January 2021 7:00 PM CET

Professor Teresa Macarulla MD, PhD Head of the Gastrointestinal Cancer Program Unit Vall d’Hebron, University Hospital - Barcelona, Spain

This webinar highlights the importance of considering both patient wishes and clinician experience when making treatment decisions in metastatic pancreatic cancer (mPaCa). The case study of a patient diagnosed with mPaCa is presented throughout the webinar to offer a more concrete example of how a patient's feeling and wishes, as well as the clinician's perspective, can be incoporated into their treatment plan.

Key points covered

This webinar highlights the importance of factoring in patient and clinician perspective in mPaCa treatment decision.

  • Beyond evidence and guidelines, treatment decisions in mPaCa need to be based on the patient feelings and wishes, and clinician experience

  • Sequential treatment algorithms must also be considered to give patients the best available treatments

  • While both FOLFIRINOX and nab-Paclitaxel + gemcitabine are standards-of-care 1L in mPaCa, only Nal-IRI+ 5-FU/LV post-gemcitabine is approved for 2L
